ACUPUNCTURE
What is Acupuncture?
Traditional acupuncture is a holistic healing practice rooted in ancient Chinese medicine, dating back over 2,500 years. It involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points on the body, known as acupuncture points, which lie along pathways of energy flow called meridians. The fundamental principle is to balance the flow of "Qi" (vital energy) within these meridians to promote physical and emotional well-being. By stimulating these points, acupuncture aims to restore health by correcting imbalances, alleviating pain, and enhancing the body's natural healing processes. This practice is often used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, stress, digestive issues, respiratory issues, and is increasingly integrated with Western medical treatments.
All needles are sterile and single use. They are carefully deposited of in sharps containers ready for strict, regulated disposal.
In addition to using Traditional Acupuncture, at EMbalance we also specialise in a variety of other Acupuncture techniques, including:

Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture involves stimulating specific points on the outer ear, or auricle, to treat various health conditions. Based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, it posits that the ear is a microsystem reflecting the entire body. By inserting fine needles or applying pressure to particular points on the ear, the practitioner aims to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and promote overall wellness. This technique is used for a range of issues, including chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, and addiction, and is sometimes integrated with other therapeutic approaches to enhance effectiveness.
Abdominal Acupuncture

Abdominal acupuncture is a specialized form of acupuncture that involves the insertion of fine needles into specific points on the abdomen. This technique is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, which views the abdomen as a vital centre of the body, housing key organs and energy pathways. By targeting these abdominal points, the practitioner aims to balance the body's energy flow (Qi), stimulate organ function, and address various health issues such as gastrointestinal disorders, pain, and stress. Abdominal acupuncture is often used as a complementary therapy to enhance overall well-being and support the body's natural healing processes.
Electro-Acupuncture

Electro-acupuncture is a modern adaptation of traditional acupuncture, where small electrical currents are passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. This technique enhances the stimulation of the needles and aims to intensify the therapeutic effects. During a session, needles are inserted into specific points on the body, just as in traditional acupuncture, and then connected to a device that generates continuous electric pulses. The frequency and intensity of the electrical stimulation can be adjusted according to the patient's condition and treatment goals. Electro-acupuncture is often used to treat pain, inflammation, and various neurological disorders, leveraging the combined benefits of acupuncture and electrical stimulation to promote healing and alleviate symptoms.
